Roselle elected Democrat Donald Shaw to fill the remainder of former Mayor Christine Dansereau’s unexpired term.
Shaw leads independent candidate Denise Wilkerson 2,311 to 990. Archange Antoine, another independent, got 255 votes.
Ward 3 Councilwoman Cynthia Johnson and Democrat Richard Villeda ran unopposed.
Villeda defeated Ward 1 Councilwoman Isabel Sousa in the state’s July primary.
Dansereau resigned in July, citing health reasons. The borough council appointed Rev. Reginald Atkins to serve until an election could be held. Shaw will keep the seat until Dec. 31, 2023.
