Update: On November 23, Superior Court Judge David Bauman signed an order to show cause and scheduled a hearing on the recount for December 1.

A candidate for Bradley Beach Borough Council wants a recount after losing the November 8 general election by seven votes in a contest that saw two of the four incumbents lose re-election.

A final tally in the non-partisan municipal elections for four council seats puts Deborah Bruynell seven votes behind incumbent Al Gubitosi, the council president.

Meredith DeMarco finished first with 829 votes, followed by Jane DeNoble (806), incumbent John Weber (813), and Gubitosi (794).   Bruynell is in fifth place with 787 votes, followed by Thomas Gavin (735), incumbent Tim Sexsmith (675) and incumbent Randy Bonnell (541).

Bruynell and Gavin ran together.

A judge is set to hear the request for a recount on Wednesday.
