Frank Provenzano says that his eighteen years as Somerset County Sheriff were the “true highlight” law enforcement career.
Provenzano announced his retirement today and will leave office at the end of the year.
“After 50 years in law enforcement in the service of Bridgewater Township as a police officer and the county as Sheriff, I have decided along with my family, to retire at the end of my term later this year,” Provenzano said. “It seems like just yesterday that Mayor DeCicco, Senator Bateman, Dale Florio and Al Gaburo approached me and asked me to consider running for Sheriff. At that point in time, I could never have imagined the friendships and the rewarding career of serving as your Sheriff that would await me.”
The six-term sheriff said he was proud of his accomplishments and his staff.
“We have accomplished so much over the years together and I am most proud of the men and women of the Sheriff’s Office that wear the uniform every day and sacrifice so much to keep our county, its jail and our courthouse complex safe,” Provenzano said
