Parsippany GOP municipal chairman Louis Valori, council president Michael dePierro and councilwoman Loretta Gragnani have endorsed Laura Marie Ali for Morris County Republican chair.
Ali has been serving as acting county chair since November when Ron DeFilippis stepped aside to deal with personal and health issues. She is running in a June election for a full two-year term.
“During the recent campaign in Parsippany when the Republican Township Council Incumbents were challenged in the Primary and in the General election, we were fortunate to receive help from some prominent Republicans. Outstanding among those was Laura Ali,” the three Republicans said in a statement.
Ali is unopposed so far, although Rob Zwigard is considering a run. Zwigard came within four votes of winning the post against DeFilippis in 2018.
“Laura realized that Parsippany, being Morris County’s largest municipality, needed to keep strong Republican leadership on the Township Council. She supported us throughout the campaign and demonstrated the leadership that we know Morris County needs going forward,” the officials said. “We know that we can count on her to continue her commitment, her leadership, and her resolve to keep Morris County a Republican stronghold.”
Parsippany has 78 county committee seats, although there are presently three vacancies. All seats are up for election in the June GOP primary.
