One race too close to call in Bass River

Two incumbents score easy re-election wins

By Nikita Biryukov, May 12 2020 10:09 pm

Commissioner Deborah Buzy-Cope finished first with 290 votes, while Commissioner Louis Bourguignon had 224 ballots cast in his name.

Commissioner Nicholas Capriglione leads challenger Karl Swanseen 169-167.

Elections officials will accept mail-in ballots postmarked by election day until Tuesday, and those votes could easily swing the race in either Capriglione or Swanseen’s favor.

Three other candidates, Kevin Foder, Brenda Percy and Carol Bitzberger received fewer than 100 votes.
