NJFMBA backs Martin in Hamilton

Union endorsed him in his 2017 council bid

The New Jersey State Firefighters’ Mutual Benevolent Association endorsed Hamilton Council President Jeff Martin for mayor on Wednesday.

“When we endorsed Jeff in 2017 we did so because the conversation, and legislative action, around public safety in Hamilton Township had to change,” NJ FMBA President Eddie Donnelly said. “Two years later, while Mayor Kelly Yaede has attacked collective bargaining time and time again, Jeff has stood strong and showed that working families still matter in Hamilton Township.”

The union also backed Martin’s running mates, council candidates Pat Papero and Nancy Phillips.

Martin is challenging Mayor Kelly Yaede for the town’s executive seat. Yaede beat out primary challenge David Henderson, a fierce critic of her administration, to win renomination earlier this month.

She’s running alongside Vinnie Capodanno and Richard Balgowan, both of whom are seeking seets on the council.
