Morris Township likely going to recount

Mancuso leads Ravitz by 13 votes

The race for Morris Township Committee appears headed to a recount.

Republican Peter V. Mancuso, 83, who first won a township committee seat in 1978, now leads Democrat Bud Ravitz by 13 votes.

Mancuso had led by 48 votes on Election Day.

Still in play are 42 disqualified provisional ballots that were not properly sealed or signed at the polling location.

Mancuso has served several times as mayor and lost two GOP State Senate primaries: against John Dorsey in 1987 and Anthony R. Bucco in 1997.  He is a former New Jersey Republican State Committee Finance Chairman.
