Democrats seek recount in close Morris Township race

Democrat Bud Ravitz has filed for a recount in his race for Morris Township Committee.

Ravitz trails incumbent Peter V. Mancuso, an 82-year-old Republican who first won a local election in 1978, by 13 votes.

The recount of about 6,376 votes cast in the November 5 general election does not include 42 provisional ballots that have been rejected because they were unsealed.

Mancuso led by 48 votes last week, but watched his lead shrink by 73% after provisional and late vote-by-mail ballots were counted on Tuesday.
