Republicans sweep Monmouth countywide races

Republican incumbents easily won all three countywide races in Monmouth Tuesday.

Sheriff Shaun Golden, who is Monmouth’s GOP chairman, defeated challenger Raymond Dothard 73,454-48,687.

Margins were a little closer in the county’s freeholder races, though Republicans easily prevailed there as well.

Freeholder Director Tom Arnon secured the most votes, 71,224. Republican newcomer Nick DiRocco got 66,114 votes.

Demcorats Michael Penna and Moira Nelson got 51,196 and 50,785 votes, respectively.
