Monmouth County Republicans cruise to re-election

Four Republican incumbents in Monmouth County were re-elected to countywide office, dispatching Democratic challengers by comfortable margins.

Sheriff Shaun Golden, the GOP county chairman, defeated former Highlands school board member Michael Warren by a 57%-43% margin. Golden became sheriff in 2010 after Kim Guadagno was elected lieutenant governor.

County Clerk Christine Giordano Hanlon won her third term by about 40,000 votes against Alson DeNoia, a former school board member in Colts Neck.

County Commissioners Thomas Arnone (151,468) and Nick DiRocco (147,349) defeated Democratic challengers, newcomers Vito Colasurdo (113,572) and Jacqui Wenzel (116,752).
