The tight relationship between Democrats in Middlesex and Monmouth counties – something that likely impacts the race for Democratic state chairman later this year – will be on display tonight at a joint fundraiser to benefit the re-election campaign of two mayors.
Middlesex County Democratic chairman Kevin McCabe and Monmouth County Democratic chairman David Brown are hosting a fundraiser at Cuzin’s Seafood Clam Bar in Marlboro for Marlboro mayor Jonathan Hornick, Woodbridge mayor John McCormac, and their council slates.
State Sen. Vin Gopal (D-Long Branch) is expected to be in attendance.
Monmouth County has eight votes on the New Jersey Democratic State Committee, which could be pivotal in the contest between state chairman John Currie and his challenger, Essex County Democratic chairman LeRoy Jones, Jr. McCabe and Brown have endorsed Jones.
