Republicans in Hamilton announced a slate of council candidates late Monday as the party prepares to fight for its survival in a town where Democrats now hold complete control over local government.
Robert Diszler, Joe DeMarco and James Boozan will run with the party’s support, Hamilton Republican Committee Chairwoman Ileana Schirmer said.
“Each candidate represents a segment our of our beautiful town and have spent their lives giving back to the community,” she said.
Diszler is a retired police officer who was a two-term president of the Policemen’s Benevolent Association Local 66.
DeMarco is a local businessowner, while Boozan is an executive at a series of behavioral health centers.
They’ll face Councilman Anthony Carabelli, Councilman Richard Tighe and Councilman Charles Whalen, should the Democratic incumbents choose to seek re-election.
