A Teaneck councilman who works for Bergen County has endorsed the Democratic organization line candidates in the 37th district Democratic primary.
Michael Santiago Pagan, the public information officer for Bergen County and a longtime Demcoratic staffer, has endorsed former Tenafly Councilwoman Shama Haider and former Englewood Cliffs Councilwoman Ellen Park for the two open Assembly seats. He has already endorsed Gordon Johnson for State Senate.
“I worked in the Assembly under three former Speakers and know what it takes to succeed in the halls of Trenton for your constituents,” said Pagan. “And Haider and Park both have the experience, knowledge and network to succeed and help our District 37 communities through this difficult pandemic.”
The Senate primary between Johnson and Valerie Vainieri Huttle has created a rare two-seat opening for the State Assembly.
Haider and Park face Vainieri Huttle’s two running mates, Gervonn Romney Rice and Lauren Dayton. Romney Rice serves on the Teaneck Township Council with Romney Rice.
A former Herald News reporter, Pagan worked for Speakers Albio Sires and Joe Roberts and served as press secretary to U.S. Senator Frank Lautenberg.
