Monmouth County Republican Chairman Shaun Golden easily won re-election tonight against Renzo Kolenovic.

Golden defeated Kolenovic, who lost a bid for Marlboro councilman in 2023, 361-83, a margin of 79%-18%.

A third candidate, former Freeholder Gary Rich, withdrew from the race from the podium and endorsed Kolenovic.  He still received 15 votes.

Golden, the Monmouth County sheriff, was first elected county chairman in 2014, defeating incumbent John O. Bennett III, a former co-Senate President and, for 84 hours in 2002, the acting governor of New Jersey.

Golden was elected sheriff in 2010 after Kim Guadagno was elected lieutenant governor.
