Gattinelli likely re-elected in Washington Township, but council races too close to call

Longtime Washington Mayor Joann Gattinelli holds a commanding lead over Republican challenger Vincent Spinelli.

Gattinelli leads Spinelli by 2,656 votes. Independent candidate Giancarlo D’Orazio got 1,651 votes.

Republicans hold a slim lead for two of the township’s council seats, but those races are too close to call.

Democratic council candidates Joseph Perry and Raymond Dinovi have 12,923 and 12,763 votes, respectively. Republican Anthony Dellapia has 13,191 votes, while Richard Bennet has 13,002 ballots cast in his name.

If Democrats win their races, they’ll hold all five 5-0 majority on the township council.

Council President Joseph Sperry and Councilwoman Dana Pasqualone did not seek re-election.
