Dawson is new Bergen YR chair

By David Wildstein, August 02 2021 10:27 pm

Alyssa Dawson, the chief of staff to State Sen. Holly Schepisi (R-River Vale), is the new chair of the Bergen County Young Republicans.

She replaces Katie Cericola, who is stepping down to focus on her own bid for borough council seat in Waldwick.  Dawson and Cericola were running mates in a 2019 race for Bergen County freeholder.

With the post comes a seat on the Bergen GOP Policy that impacts who might get organization lines in 2022.

“I am eager and honored to serve as Chairwoman and feel optimistic about 2021 being a strong year for the GOP from Jack Ciattarelli all the way down to our local races,” said Dawson, a former Westwood councilwoman.  “This cycle is a golden opportunity to capitalize on Murphy’s failures and to build momentum across the county.”

Dawson said she will appoint Alex Cucciniello to succeed her as vice chair.
