Seeking to build support from millennials, the Atlantic County GOP will form a new Young Republican organization and the county GOP leader has asked former congressional candidate Brian Fitzherbert to lead the new group until they can hold elections.
Republican County Chairman Keith Davis says he will ask the county committee to charter the group when they meet to reorganize on June 12.
“Young voters care about the direction of our country and want continued economic growth,” said Davis. “But if our message about creating and keeping good-paying jobs doesn’t get out to younger voters, we won’t be able to grow as a party.”
Fitzherbert, 29, briefly ran for Frank LoBiondo’s House seat and won the endorsement of the Gloucester County Republicans before Hirsh Singh successfully challenged his nominating petitions.
“I’m looking forward to this new opportunity to help communicate our message to younger Republicans and work to elect Republicans county-wide,” Fitzherbert said. “We have critical elections in the fall and millennial voters need to be a part of our winning coalition.”
