Members of the American Society for the Defense of Tradition, Family and Property who protested the Children’s Drag Queen Story Hour in Hoboken on Saturday are being rebuked by leaders of the Hudson County Democratic LGBTQ Caucus.
The event was sponsored by the North Jersey chapter of Drag Queen Story Hour, which holds readings in communities that advocate equality.
“This kind of divisive language and intolerance has no place in Hoboken, Hudson County or anywhere in our country,” said Hoboken councilman Michael DeFusco, the LGBTQ caucus chair. “We should be teaching children to embrace diversity and acceptance, not spreading hateful rhetoric that aims to set us back on the strides we have made to get closer to full equality.”
The American TFP calls themselves “an organization of lay Catholic Americans concerned about the moral crisis shaking the remnants of Christian civilization.”
DeFusco and the HCDO LGBTQ Caucus will host a drag queen breakfast in June 1.
“This kind of divisive language and intolerance has no place in Hoboken, Hudson County or anywhere in our country,” said Hoboken councilman Michael DeFusco, the LGBTQ caucus chair. “
You mean you are opposed to the first amendment to the U.S. Constitution? You might not agree with the message, but there is nothing hateful in the wording of these signs. This organization for over 30 years has stressed peaceful and legal protest. Mr. DeFusco probably also considers publicly praying the rosary to be intolerant and divisive.
