Paterson Mayor Andre Sayegh has won the endorsement of U.S. Senator Cory Booker in his bid for re-election to a second term.

“Mayor Andre Sayegh is providing innovative, forward-thinking leadership that is helping Paterson reach new heights, ensuring a future as promising as its rich history,” said Booker. “Thanks to Mayor Sayegh’s leadership, the Silk City is once again on the rise as both a destination for new businesses creating good jobs and for tourists taking in the view at Great Falls National Park.”

Booker pointed to Sayegh’s success in building two parks for children with autism, restoring Hinchcliffe Stadium, and for the establishment of a Guaranteed Income Pilot program.  He also praised Sayegh’s leadership during the coronavirus pandemic.

“We saw the strength of Andre’s leadership, the depth of his compassion and his determination to protect Paterson’s residents,” he said.  “With Andre at the helm, Paterson launched a nationally recognized contact tracing program, provided PPE for frontline workers, and implemented a comprehensive effort to achieve one of the highest vaccination rates in the state.”

Sayegh faces three city councilmen, Alex Mendez, Luis Velez and Michael Jackson, and former councilman Aslon Gow in the May 10 non-partisan municipal election.
