Atlantic City wants 50% capacity for indoor dining

Kurtz resolution urges Murphy to up the number

The Atlantic City council wants Gov. Phil Murphy to increase the indoor dining capacity from 25% to 50%, saying Atlantic City restaurants have been “disproportionately affected by the capacity restrictions and many face the prospect of permanent closure absent remedial measures.”

The resolution sponsored by City Councilman Jesse O. Kurtz, the lone Republican in local government, says that restaurants can safely operate at 50% capacity when they follow state masking and social distancing requirements.

Kurtz’s measure passed by a 4-3 vote on Wednesday evening.

Murphy has not announced any changes to indoor dining capacities.
