The New Jersey Globe is calling the Democratic primary for State Assembly in the 20th district for incumbents Annette Quijano (D-Elizabeth) and Jamal Holley (D-Roselle).
They have defeated their primary opponent, Kenneth Jones.
Quijano and Holley will face Republicans Ashraf Hanna and Charles Donnelly in the general election.
Republicans have never won the Elizabeth-based legislative district and have not sent a Republican to the State Assembly from Elizabeth since Nicholas St. John LaCorte won in 1963.
Hanna challenged State Sen. Joseph Cryan (D-Union) in 2017 and lost by 67 points. Quijano and Holley collectively won 90% of the vote that year.
