Assemblywoman Verlina Reynolds Jackson and Assemblyman Anthony Verrelli won their races and will serve out the remaining year of their terms.
Reynolds Jackson beat Republican challenger Tracy Sinatra by 46 points, 73%-27%.
The Assemblywoman got 42,084 votes to Sinatra’s 15,636.
Verrelli defeated Justin Tibbets, a member of Trenton’s ethics board and a member of the city’s Republican committee by the same vote split as his running mate defeated her opponent..
The Assemblyman got 41,377 votes to Tibbet’s 14,937.
The district’s Democratic committee people appointed Reynolds Jackson, who was then Mercer County Democratic Chairwoman to fill State Treasurer Liz Muoio’s seat when she left the legislature to join Gov. Phil Murphy’s early this year.
The same committee people appointed Verrelli, a former Mercer County Freeholder, to fill Reed Gusciora’s seat when he left the legislature before being sworn in as Trenton’s mayor.
