Senate President Steve Sweeney added State Sens. Teresa Ruiz (D-Newark) and Troy Singleton (D-Palmyra) to a legislative panel that will work on restarting the state’s economy in the aftermath of the COVID-19 crisis.
“Senators Ruiz and Singleton will bring more diversity and expertise to the planning process that is so important to our economic recovery,” Sweeney said. “The financial consequences of the coronavirus crisis are especially harsh for communities of color and will have an impact on schools and municipalities of all sizes in New Jersey. We need to develop strategic plans that are broad and inclusive.”
Last week, Sweeney named Senate Budget Committee Chairman Paul Sarlo (D-Woodridge) and Republican Senate Budget Officer Steve Oroho (R-Franklin) fiscal recovery strategists.
Ruiz and Singleton both sit of the Senate Budget Committee.
The Essex County lawmaker chairs the Senate Education Committee, while the Burlington Democrat chairs the Senate Urban Affairs Committee.
