The Sierra Club has endorsed two Democratic challengers in the 21st district State Assembly race against incumbents Jon Bramnick (R-Westfield) and Nancy Munoz (R-Summit).
The endorsements of Lisa Mandelblatt and Stacey Gunderman represent a switch of the environmental advocacy group, which has endorsed Bramnick and Munoz in the past. In 2017, the Sierra Club endorsed one of the Democratic candidates and neither of the Republicans.
“Our children’s future depends on the steps that we take now to protect the environment,” Mandelblatt and Gunderman said in a statement released by their campaign. “In Trenton we will work to ensure that everyone in our district and state has clean air and clean water and we will continue to fight climate change.”
Bramnick and Munoz each received a 33% rating from the New Jersey League of Conservation Voters in 2017,
“Unlike Jon Bramnick and Nancy Munoz, who repeatedly voted in lock-step with Chris Christie against common-sense environmental legislation, we will prioritize public health and cast votes in the best interests of future generations,” Mandelblatt and Gunderman said.

They’ve got my vote. I believe that Lisa and Stacey will protect us and our children, both with regard to the environment and gun safety. Unlike their opponents.
