Former Assemblywoman Maria Rodriguez-Gregg (R-Evesham), who was the first and so far only Republican Latina to serve in the New Jersey Legislature, has been named as the director of government relations at Montclair State University.

“I am excited to welcome Maria to Montclair State University and for her to assume this critical role,” Montclair State President Jonathan Koppell said in a statement. “Her leadership and advocacy will help us to become an even greater solutions engine for New Jersey, and to create and cultivate relationships that will further serve the public good.”

Rodriguez-Gregg was first elected to the Burlington County-based 8th legislative district in 2013, after Assemblyman Scott Rudder (R-Medford) announced he would not seek re-election. She dropped her re-election bid in 2017, and was succeeded by soon-to-be former Assemblyman Ryan Peters (R-Hainesport).
