Cliff Dawkins has won the endorsement of his hometown municipal chair in his bid to become the Democratic candidate for State Senate in the 25th district.
“After careful consideration and speaking with all the candidates for State Senate, I have chosen to stand behind Cliff Dawkins,” said Julia Gillies, the Rockaway Borough municipal chair.
Dawkins came within 49 votes of capturing a Rockaway Borough council seat in 2020, losing to Republican Russell Greuter by a 654 to 605 vote.
In that race, Dawkins ran ahead of Democratic candidates for State Assembly, sheriff, surrogate and freeholder.
“Cliff has the passion and drive to bring unity to our community and help us make the necessary changes,” Gillies said.
