Ore Obiwumi, the former political director of the Morris County Democratic Committee, has signed on to manage Cliff Dawkins’ campaign for State Senate in the 25th district.
Dawkins, an attorney who almost won a bid for Rockaway Borough Council last year, is one of three Democrats seeking the nomination to challenge State Sen. Anthony M. Bucco (R-Boonton).
Under Obiwumi, Morris County Democrats have won 26 local government eats, including six new Democratic mayors.
“Ore has done incredible work for the Morris County Democratic Committee, running winning campaigns and building strong relationships all over the district,” Dawkins said. “I know that she will bring the same skills and energy that made her successful with the Morris County Democrats to our team. I am so proud to have her on Team Dawkins and I have full confidence that she will help us plan and execute a winning campaign.”
Morris Township Committeeman Jeff Grayzel and former freeholder candidate Rupande Mehta are also seeking the Senate nomination.
Morris County Democrats will award their organization line at their march 15 convention.
Bucco won a special election convention last year to replace his father, Anthony R. Bucco (R-Boonton). He died on September 16 after serving in the Senate since 1998.
The winner of the November special election will fill the remaining fourteen months of the Senate term.
