The Kean University Federation of Teachers AFT Local 2187 Executive Board has endorsed State Sen. Joseph Cryan (D-Union) for re-election in the 20th district.
“Senator Cryan has been a fierce advocate for the education community and, specifically, the importance of a quality, affordable higher education,” said James Castiglione, the union president. “He has proven himself to be a true leader in the fight to secure education funding while also working to improve access to higher education for children and families everywhere.”
Kean University is in Cryan’s legislative district.
“Senator Cryan is a steadfast ally of labor unions, including the KFT and other higher education unions representing everyone from faculty to groundskeepers, who has been there for us and our students every step of the way,” Castiglione said. “The Senator has the full support of our members because we know that if he says he is going to do something then we can count on it getting done, and that is the definition of a leader.”
Cryan is seeking re-election to a second term in the State Senate. He faces primary challengers from Assemblyman Jamel Holley (D-Roselle) and Jason Krychiw, a teacher.
