Jersey City Mayor Steve Fulop is teaming up with Union City Mayor/State Sen. Brian P. Stack and Hudson County Executive candidate Craig Guy to raise money for the Democratic Assembly Campaign Committee.

The three have pledged to raise $100,000 to boost Democratic candidates seeking to hold the party’s majority in the State Assembly at the October event in Jersey City.    Jersey City Democratic Municipal Chair Barbara Stamato, a candidate for State Assembly in the 31st district, is also involved in the fundraiser.

“We hear all the rumors around the state from naysayers that would like to see Hudson County be fractured, but the truth is that we have never been more united, and this will continue to become more and more apparent as we approach this important election and the next legislative session,” said Stack.  “On October 12, Steve, Craig, Barbara, and I are going to do the work needed to make sure that the state legislature stays in Democratic hands.”

Fulop, a candidate for the Democratic nomination for governor in 2025, is able to use the fundraiser as an open display of his relationship with Stack, who has not taken sides in the governor’s race.

“Senator Stack, Craig Guy, and I have developed a very close relationship over the last couple of years, and our goal is to make sure Hudson County’s voice is unified in supporting Democrats statewide,” Fulop said.  “I want to thank Speaker Coughlin and Chairman McCabe for their friendship and all the work they are doing to move our state forward.”

Assembly Speaker Craig Coughlin and Middlesex County Democratic Chairman Kevin McCabe will be at the event.

Guy, who is assured a victory to succeed retiring County Executive Tom DeGise this year, has maintained strong relationships with Stack and Fulop.

“The stakes are very high in this year’s legislative elections and Hudson County Democrats are going to do everything we can to help candidates win statewide in November,” said Guy.  “I’m ecstatic to be co-hosting this event, and I believe it will be a tremendous success as well as more proof that Hudson County is ready to once again be one of the most significant players in state politics.”
