Rep. Mikie Sherrill (D-Montclair), widely viewed as a potential top-tier candidate for the Democratic nomination for Governor in 2025, will headline separate fundraising events for Senate and Assembly campaign committees over the next six weeks.
On Monday evening, Sherill is helping Senate President Nichola Scutari and the Senate Democratic Majority Committee raise money for the fall campaign.
“Mikie knows that helping Democrats win in 2023 is critical to the future of New Jersey, and we are proud to stand with the Senate President and our state senators in this important fight,” said Alex Ball, Sherrill’s chief of staff.
The Democratic Assembly Campaign Committee will get Sherrill’s help on June 15 at a high-dollar fundraiser in New Brunswick, along with Assembly Speaker Craig Coughlin and Majority Leader Louis Greenwald.
A former U.S. Navy helicopter pilot and federal prosecutor, Sherrill was elected to Congress in 2018 after frightening House Appropriations Committee Chairman Rodney Frelinghuysen (R-Harding) out of the race.
