Sen. Gerald Cardinale is doing well following a car accident on Thursday, Assemblyman Bob Auth told the New Jersey Globe.
“He’s a good friend, he’s a great guy, and the district would really lose a valuable asset if something bad had happened, thank god,” Auth said. “I’m knocking on wood right now.”
At 84-years-old, Cardinale is the state’s eldest senator, and even relatively-minor injuries could spawn rumors about his health.
Auth said the senator got out of the accident relatively unscathed and was now recovering, a little sore and shaken up from the deployment of the vehicle’s airbags but not in any danger.
