Bucco wins Senate seat; Dunn now 2,914 ahead of Draeger in Assembly race

The New Jersey Globe now projecting that State Sen. Anthony Bucco (R-Boonton) will win a special election for the State Senate in the 25th district.

Bucco has now amassed a 5,822-vote lead over Democrat Rupande Mehta, 53%-47%.

Assemblywoman Aura Dunn (R-Mendham) now leads Democrat Darcy Draeger by 2,914 votes in a contest where the trajectory is clearing favoring Republicans.

Mehta and Dunn were ahead on election night.  The race shifted to Bucco over late last week, but Draeger had held the lead until yesterday.

In a contest for the unexpired term of his late father, who died in September 2019, Bucco now leads Mehta, 52,174 to 46,322.

Dunn is now ahead 50,189 to 47,275,  51.5%-48.5%.

There is still an estimated 9,000 more ballots that have not yet been counted.
