Republican State Senator Anthony M. Bucco (R-Boonton) has increased his lead to 1,630 in a special election in the 25th district, while Democrat Assembly candidate Darcy Draeger is head of the GOP incumbent by 865 votes in slow-counting Morris County.
Bucco is outpolling Democrat Rupande Mehta, 41,047 to 39,417, 51%-49%. Bucco’s margin on Monday was 1,284.
Assemblywoman Aura Dunn (R-Mendham) trails Draeger, 40,266 to 39,401, 50.5%-49.5%. Draeger had been in front by 1,163 votes yesterday.
Democrats continue to be ahead in the race for one seat on the Morris County Board of Freeholders. Republican incumbent Tayfun Selen trails Cary Amaro by 5,005 votes, 92,590 to 87,585 (51%-49%).
If Amaro wins – she has been ahead since election night – she would become the first Democratic freeholder in Morris County since Douglas Romaine. Romaine won in 1973 and lost his bid for re-election in 1976.
Morris has now counted nearly 193,000 ballots out of 288,000 cast. There are around 12,500 provisional ballots on top of that.
Joe Biden leads Donald Trump in Morris County by 21,884 votes, a ten-point lead in a county that has not backed a Democratic presidential candidate since Lyndon Johnson in 1964.
U.S. Senator Cory Booker is 15,912 votes ahead of Republican Rik Mehta and leads 54%-45%.
In the 7th district congressional race, Republican Tom Kean, Jr. has a 645-vote lead in the Morris portion of his district over Democratic incumbent Tom Malinowski (D-Ringoes).
Rep. Mikie Sherrill (D-Montclair) is 16,177 votes in front of Republican Rosemary Becchi in the Morris County municipalities in the 11th.
