Bateman backs Kean for Congress

State Sen. Kip Bateman (R-Branchburg) backed Senate Minority Leader Tom Kean for Congress in the state’s seventh congressional district Tuesday.

“I went down to his announcement. I think Tom would be a great congressman — his experience in the legislature, and he’s a committed public servant,” Bateman said. “I’m happy to support him financially and with my endorsement.”

Kean faces a primary challenge from former U.S. Senate staffer Rosemary Becchi, who has positioned herself to the minority leader’s right.

The two are vying for the opportunity to take on first-term Rep. Tom Malinowski (D-Rocky Hill).
