16th district Dems pound their opponents on abortion in new ad

Democrats in the 16th District are attacking their opponents over abortion in a new digital ad.

The ad, “Future,” connects the Republicans running – State Senate candidate Michael Pappas and Assembly candidates Ross Traphagen and Grace Zhang – to anti-abortion policies and to dysfunction in the nation’s capital. The ad features a picture of Pappas posing with former Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy and Rep. Tom Kean Jr. (R-Westfield).

The Democrats running – State Sen. Andrew Zwicker (D-South Brunswick), Assemblyman Roy Freiman (D-Hillsborough), and Assembly candidate Mitchelle Drulis – are not featured.

Script: “Rights, freedoms, stripped by extreme politicians… bringing Washington dysfunction to New Jersey. And Mike Pappas, Ross Traphagen, and Grace Zhang are ready to rubber stamp banning abortion, threatening healthcare and our families’ future. Vote “No” on Pappas, Traphagen, and Zhang.”

Traphagen is pro-choice.

With the election just under a month away, Democrats in the competitive 16th are increasingly focusing on abortion access; just last week, for example, they hosted a roundtable discussion about reproductive healthcare with Gov. Phil Murphy.
