16th District Dems emphasize their commitment to abortion rights in new ad

Democrats in the 16th legislative district highlight abortion in their third ad of this year’s elections.

The ad, “Proud,” spotlights State Sen. Andrew Zwicker (D-South Brunswick) and his daughter, Louisa, a medical student, with a special focus on abortion rights.

Zwicker’s daughter narrates the ad contrasting the Democrats’ position on abortion rights with their Republican opponents, State Senate candidate, former Rep. Michael Pappas, and Assembly candidates Ross Traphagen and Grace Zhang.  Traphagen is opposed to abortion bans.

Script: “First do no harm.” As a medical student, I’ll be proud to take that oath one day. But with Roe v. Wade overturned, women are being harmed by extreme politicians right now. Michael Pappas is running with Ross Traphagen and Grace Zhang. Pappas wants to ban all abortions, including cases of rape and incest. Andrew Zwicker is running with Roy Freiman and Mitchelle Drulis to stop them. I’m proud that he’s protecting abortion access and contraception. And even more proud … that he’s my dad.”

This is the latest in a series of ads that the Democrats in the 16th have released. Each ad focused on a different candidate but emphasized abortion rights.

Democrats increasingly view abortion access as a key issue this year. Yesterday, Planned Parenthood Action Fund of New Jersey endorsed 97 Democrats throughout the state, including the 16th District Democrats.
