The entire leadership of Iron Workers Union Local 11 in Newark was relieved today after allegations of malfeasance surfaced, the New Jersey Globe has learned.
Among the ousted union leaders is Raymond Woodall, the business manager for the last fourteen years and the vice president of the New Jersey Building & Construction Trades Council.
Former Senate President Steve Sweeney, the first vice president of the International Association of Bridge, Structural, Ornamental and Reinforcing Iron Workers, is now the administrator of the North Jersey union and will be responsible for cleaning up the issues.
Sweeney has played a similar role in other locals, including one in Philadelphia last week.
Some of the current Local 11 leadership could be returned to office after Sweeney completes a restructuring, although Woodall is unlikely to be returned, sources have said.
