Matthew Conlon, the Republican state committeeman, is the new chief of staff to Assemblyman Kevin Rooney (R-Wyckoff).
“This new role is such an exciting opportunity for me to expand my knowledge of our government and use my skills to support our elected officials,” Conlon stated. “I am eager to work with a dedicated public servant like Assemblyman Rooney, whose pride in active constituent services and fearless advocacy for a better New Jersey are inspirational.”
Conlon is a former West Milford school board member – he had won his election at age 19 – and serves as secretary to the Passaic County Republican organization and as vice chairman of the Wanaque Valley Regional Sewerage Authority.
He is a top ally of Passaic County Republican Chairman Peter Murphy.
A former Wyckoff mayor, Rooney was elected to the State Assembly in 2016 in a special election after Scott Rumana (R-Wayne) became a Superior Court Judge.
