Former New Jersey Supreme Court Justice Walter F. Timpone has joined Calcagni & Kanefsky, a North Jersey litigation firm, as senior counsel.
Timpone left the bench last month after the Senate confirmed his replacement, Fabiana Pierre-Louis. He was named to the top court in 2016 and would have reached the mandatory retirement age of 70 in November.
The named partners at the firm, Thomas Calcagni and Eric Kanefsky, are both former federal prosecutors. Former Acting U.S. Attorney Ralph Marra is also a senior counsel at the firm. Marra and Timpone served together at the Department of Justice when Timpone was an Assistant U.S. Attorney.
“CK is a perfect fit for me,” Timpone said. “With its unique makeup of former Federal and State prosecutors and extraordinary litigators, it has swiftly risen to the top in terms of reputation and results. I am looking forward to my return to private practice, having found great synergy with the other attorneys at CK, many of whom I have known, worked with, and respected for years. I also relish the opportunity to help mentor the firm’s younger lawyers.”
Calcagni called Timpone a “consummate attorney.”
“He is superbly talented, he is dedicated to excellence, and he is a dear friend,” Calcagni said.
