Christopher Killmurray, who became mayor of South Brunswick last year, passed away today after a long battle with brain cancer. He was 55.
Killmurray was elected Councilman in 2003 and became mayor in 2017 following the death of longtime mayor Frank Gambatese. A Democrat, he won a special election last November to fill Gambatese’s unexpired term.
“He was a wonderful man, dedicated to a life of public service and to his family. A deep loss for all,” said Assemblyman Andrew Zwicker (D-South Brunswick) in a Facebook post.
An attorney, he was a partner at Hoagland, Longo, Moran, Dunst & Doukas. He was also a longtime member of the South Brunswick Library Board of Trustees.
Killmurray is survived by his wife Karen and four children. Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced.
