Retired journalism professor, ex-mayor, die

Former Bergen Record manager passes away

Willard Lally, who trained reporters for thirty years as a journalism professor at Rider University, died on November 17.  He was 96.  Lally was a reporter and public affairs executive before joining the Rider faculty in 1955.

Charles Owens, a former mayor of Westville, passed away on Novembe 28.  He was 91.  Owens served as a school board member and councilman, as clerk of the Gloucester County Board of Freeholders, and as operations manager of the Atlantic City Expressway.

Thomas Webb, a former member of the New Jersey State Fish and Game Council, died on December 7.  He was 90.  He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and spent 31 years as a director of the Sussex Rural Electric Cooperative.

Ted Saydah, a former executive at The (Bergen) Record, died on December 6.  He was 93.  A U.S. Navy veteran during World War II, he later became involved in local politics in Closter.

Raymond King, a member of the Jackson Democratic Club, passed away on December 6.

Lisa Anzalone, a former legal secretary in the Ocean County Prosecutor’s office, died on December 6.  She was 55.
