Gov. Phil Murphy has ordered flags to be flown at half-staff at all state offices on July 26 in tribute to Assemblyman Ronald Dancer (R-Plumsted), an 11-term assemblyman from Ocean County who died on Saturday at age 73.

“It is with a heavy heart that we mourn Assemblyman Ron Dancer,” Murphy said.  “Ron was known for being a passionate champion for veterans, farmers, and the horse racing industry, as well as his bipartisanship.”

Dancer, who had served in the State Assembly since 2002, had a reputation as a lawmaker who had won the respect and admiration of colleagues on both sides of the aisle.

“As we mourn the passing of Assemblyman Dancer, we commemorate his history of public service, his many achievements in State and local politics, and his legacy of public service, friendship, and civility,” said Murphy.
