Bill Carson, the mayor of Pine Valley from 2003 to 2009, passed away on January 19. He was 86. With a population of 12, Pine Valley is one of New Jersey’s smallest municipalities.
Maria Abate, a Democratic County Committeewoman in West New York for more than a decade, died on January 20. She was 95. Abate worked as an Italian language interpreter for the West New York Police Department.
