Joseph (Pep) Basciano, who served as a Wood-Ridge police officer from 1956 to 1981, the last seven years as Chief of Police, died on August 21. He was 90. A U.S. Navy veteran, Basciano also worked in the Bergen County Welfare Office and for the Bergen County Prosecutor before retiring in 2014.
Emily Segreto, a former member of the Central Regional Board of Education, died on August 19. She was 73. Segreto also worked for the Berkeley Township Municipal Utilities Authority.
Barry Miller, a former sportswriter and editor for the Express Times, died on August 22. He was 65.
Sylvia Schwartz, a former editor for Suburban News, died on August 22. She was 94.
Richard Brady, a team leader for the New Jersey Courts and a Vietnam veteran, died on August 11. He was 78.
Audrey Brauer, who served as secretary to the Neptune City Planning Board, died on August 25. She was 96.
