Gregorio Polimeni, the owner of two well-known North Jersey restaurants that have been gathering places for the New Jersey political cognoscenti, died on August 4.  He was 76.  Polimeni owned Il Tulipano in Cedar Grove and Rare The Steakhouse in Little Falls.  He was on an elite list of people that overheard a great deal over the years without repeating anything.

Jay Jablonski, who once ran for city council in Bayonne’s 2nd Ward with Mayor Dennis Collins, died on August 2.  He was 88.  He was a decorated U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War and played a key role in the erection of monument for fallen soldiers of that era in Jersey City.

Joseph Petite, who served on the Bernards Township school board, died on July 22.  He was 88.

Joseph Walsh, a member of the Shrewsbury Zoning Board for ten years, died on August 2.  He was 61.
