Edwin Slomka, M.D., the father of veteran political consultant Laura Slomka and the father-in-law of former state Transportation Commissioner Roger Bodman, died on November 11. He was 93. Slomka was awarded a Purple Heart after being severely wounded in Germany during World War II and spent eighteen months recovering from his injuries. He was chief of ophthalmology at Somerset Medical Center before his retirement in 1996.
Dominick Romano, a former Stanhope Board of Education president, died on November 17. He was 85. He was the CEO of Ronetco Supermarkets, which operates eight ShopRite Supermarkets in Morris, Sussex and Warren counties.
Rose Najarian, a longtime secretary in the Hudson County Prosecutor’s office, died on November 17.
Elizabeth Bowen Dodds, who served as a legal secretary to Superior Court Judge John L. Miller, died on November 16. She was 98.
