Patrick Conaghan, who served as the Bayonne Municipal Court Judge from 1996 to 2002, died on March 27. He wa s80. He was a former president of the Bayonne Board of Education, a former Bayonne prosecutor and assistant corporation counsel, and a longtime member of the Bayonne Democratic Club. For several years, he was the lawyer for the International Longshoreman’s Association Local 1598-88. He ran unsuccessfully for Mayor of Bayonne. Conaghan is remembered for overturning a local ordinance that prohibited women from sitting at a bar in a Bayonne tavern.
