Former councilwoman from Middlesex County, retired Essex judge die

Betty English, who served as a councilwoman in Old Bridge from 1988 to 1991, passed away on October 22.  She was 83.  She served on the Old Bridge Republican County Committee from 1971 to 1999.  Gov. Tom Kean appointed her to the New Jersey State Board of Nursing in 1984 and she spent seventeen years in that post.

R. Roy Failla, a former judge and prosecutor, died on November 2.  He was 84.  Failla served as municipal prosecutor and then as municipal court judge for 25 years before retiring in 1981.
