Codey Tribute: Steve Kornacki

NBC News National Political Correspondent and former PoliticsNJ reporter Steve Kornacki released the following statement on the death of former Governor Richard J. Codey:

“One of the most unforgettable political figures I’ve covered. When machines still ruled New Jersey Democratic politics, he outwitted the bosses to become Senate president.  Then, when fate suddenly made him governor, his penchant for quips and lack of pretense charmed the state. He left office with a 71% approval rating.”
