Gov. Phil Murphy announced the state would loosen restrictions on gatherings just ahead of Memorial Day weekend.

On Friday, the governor said the state was raising its limit on outdoor gathering sizes from 10 people to 25 people.

Recreational campgrounds will also open.

Indoor gatherings remain limited to 10 persons.

Social distancing orders remain in effect, and residence are urged to wear cloth face coverings.

Murphy’s announcement won’t allow restaurants to seat customers outside, nor does it impact the viability of outdoor graduation ceremonies.

The governor said he’d make an announcement on the latter next week.
